On Tuesday, September 17, the premiere of the song and animated clip “Mukachevo” by the band Okean Elsa took place. The author of the music and words is Svyatoslav Vakarchuk.

Ukrainian band Okean Elzy presented the song “Mukachevo” – the first single from the 10th album. The name of the album and the release date have not yet been announced.

The leader of the band Svyatoslav Vakarchuk said that he wrote the song “at the stage of life when you realize who you really are, despite all external circumstances.” In this song, the frontman reflects on the topic of his past and life path, symbolically addressing his past self with the question of whether he would like to “become the voice of a generation of those who are in pain”.

“Mukachevo” is a dear and special song for me. It is about the border between “being” and “appearing”, between someone else's fiction and your reality, between the way others paint you and who you were and are, Vakarchuk noted.

According to Vakarchuk, this nostalgic song is very dear and, without exaggeration, special to him. Also, according to him, although this song sounds autobiographical, it is about all of us.

Listening to it, everyone can find themselves, remember or realize their “Mukachevo”, “Lviv” or “Podil”. Each of us has disappointments, losses, gains and victories. There is a proper “I”. But the trick is that some people know who they are, some are searching and can't find that answer, and some don't think about it at all… It's always been important for me to know who I am. And this is what my new song is about, the leader of the band said.

The animation clip for the song “Mukachevo” was created by the and action agency. Sofia Pokorchak and Sofia Kalin worked on the illustrations, Teymur Bzikadze, Mykola Bagriy, Maksym Kotlyar and Sofia Pokorchak worked on the animation.

Let us remind you that Svyatoslav Vakarchuk was born in Mukachevo, where his mother is from. 2 months after his birth, Svyatoslav's family moved to Lviv, where he already grew up and went to school.
