Odessa police officers have exposed a 22-year-old man in the arson of two post offices

Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the young man's illegal actions. The suspect was reported as a suspect. He could spend the next 10 years behind bars.

Both events occurred on the same night in the Kyivsky district of Odessa. Within a few hours, investigators from the criminal investigation and criminal analysis departments of the Main Police Department in the Odessa region, together with officers from Police Department No. 4 of the Odessa District Police Department No. 1, identified the offender. He turned out to be a city resident who in July received a sentence for theft in the form of five years of imprisonment with a probationary period of two years. The young man was detained at his place of residence.

Currently, law enforcement officers have found out that the defendant received an offer via messenger to set fire to post offices for a cash reward. On the instructions of the coordinator, he purchased the necessary tools to commit crimes, and at night he set fire to two objects, breaking them with a stone and pouring flammable liquid on the windows.

One fire quickly extinguished itself, without spreading beyond the window, and the second fire was extinguished by security personnel, responding to the alarm. In addition to the window, the building's facade and walls inside were damaged by fire. The damage caused by the offender is being established.

The attacker filmed the result of his actions and sent it to the customer for a report on the «work». However, he never received the money for it.

Investigators seized the detainee's mobile phone, the clothes in which he committed the arson, a canister of fuel and lubricants, and other items of interest to the investigation as material evidence, which were sent for examination.

The suspect was informed of suspicion of a completed attempt to intentionally damage someone else's property and intentional damage to someone else's property, committed by arson, in a preliminary conspiracy by a group of persons. According to Part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, he faces up to 10 years in prison. The court chose a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention with the right to post bail.

The investigation continues under the procedural guidance of the Kyiv District Prosecutor's Office of the city of Odessa. The full circumstances of the crimes are being established.

The police urge citizens to be aware and not to be tempted by «easy money» offered for illegal actions, because this road leads not to improving one's financial situation, but to prison.
