Twist in the legal community: Radio-Canada has learned that renowned lawyer Brian Greenspan will file a motion Wednesday morning in the Ontario Superior Court to withdraw from Peter Nygard's case while the ;sentencing hearing has not yet taken place, since the guilty verdict.

Canadian fashion mogul in disgraced was convicted in November of raping four women following his first criminal trial in Canada.

His lawyer, Brian Greenspan, already notified a Manitoba court last Friday that he will not represent his client during his second criminal trial for sexual assault.

According to court documents cited by the Winnipeg Free Press, Mr. Greenspan withdrew from the criminal trial of Peter Nygard, explaining to the judge that he could no longer represent your client for ethical reasons.

The Toronto lawyer told the Manitoba judge it was the first time in his 50-year career that he had asked to withdraw from a case.

There has been an irreconcilable breakdown in the lawyer-client relationship, he said.

But in another twist, Radio-Canada learned Tuesday evening that Mr. Greenspan was going to present the same request tomorrow morning before the Superior Court of Ontario for this which is the first criminal trial.

Peter Nygard was already scheduled to return to court Wednesday to find out the date of his sentencing hearing.

But according to a judicial source familiar with the matter, Mr. Greenspan will instead submit the same request as the one he submitted in Manitoba. His request will be discussed with the Crown.

Peter Nygard was charged in July with sexual assault and false imprisonment in Manitoba for alleged acts that dates back to November 1993, at his former company's headquarters in Winnipeg.

Unlike the case in Manitoba, the case in Ontario is more problematic, since it is rare for a lawyer to withdraw from practice. x27;a trial shortly before the determination hearing was to begin.

Peter Nygard faces a maximum of 10 years in prison in Ontario for the rape of the four women, which occurred in his former Toronto fashion workshop from 1986 to 2005.
