NVIDIA is preparing to abandon SLI technology almost completely in the near future. The corresponding measure is expected to affect all 3D map generations.

Technologies that provide for combining video adapters in bundles have almost outlived their usefulness. Among the new NVIDIA products of the Ampere line, a connector for a bundle of SLI from several video cards is provided only for the top-end RTX 3090. This speaks in favor of the fact that the company follows AMD's example, abandoning this technology. In addition, it became known that NVIDIA plans no longer include the addition of additional SLI driver profiles for GeForce RTX 2000 and earlier models, this policy will take effect from January 1, 2021.
However, this does not mean that SLI completely leaves the market. First of all, testing and support of existing profiles will continue. In addition, the company's actions are related to the fact that the latest DirectX 12 and Vulkan APIs provide game developers with the ability to independently provide SLI support within their projects.
