Nvidia asks users to urgently update their video cards: what's the problem

NVIDIA  has reported the elimination of eight critical vulnerabilities in its proprietary software. Of these, six affect graphics drivers for GeForce video cards, and two – Nvidia vGPU software.

As the developers explain , all but one of the vulnerabilities allowed attackers to run arbitrary code and elevate privileges in disturbed systems. You can learn more about the vulnerabilities here.

All detected security holes were fixed in the GeForce 566.03 driver. Nvidia strongly recommends that all users of their video cards update their firmware to the latest version as soon as possible and avoid problems.

To do this, you need to:

  • Open Geforce Experience and click Check for Updates.
  • The application will automatically detect the latest driver version corresponding to your video card.
  • Click Download and select Quick Install ( “Quick Install”) to complete the driver update.
