Marmalade is popular among sweet lovers. At the same time, the statement that this product is useful is a myth, says nutritionist Philip Kuzmenko, who tested the usefulness of the named delicacy.

The culinary product, which is marmalade, is prepared from berry, fruit purees using a significant amount of sugar, while the moisture content is allowed no more than 22%. The product is available in chewable or jelly form. This delicacy does not carry with it any benefits, as well as other sweets. Sugar is the basic component of marmalade and it increases blood glucose levels. For this reason, the delicacy should be used extremely rarely in the diet of children, since it is high in calories. The attitude to marmalade should be the same as to other sweets: marshmallows, caramel, cookies and sweets.
The abundance of sugar classifies marmalade as harmful products. One gummy, in terms of the concentration of natural carbohydrates, can contain as many calories as four medium apples, at the same time, this product contains a minimum amount of useful microelements and vitamins. The nutritionist noted that it is necessary to give preference to fresh fruits, citrus fruits and berries, and not marmalade made with sugar, fruit puree and gelatin.
