Ikea is entering the gaming and esports sector in collaboration with Republic of Gamers (ROG), an ASUS sub-brand. A market in which there seems to be a lot of money, especially due to the current pandemic situation. Numerous new products are available, which have been sold on the Chinese market since the end of January. The Japanese market will be gradually expanded from May 2021. From October 2021, the new products will be added to the range worldwide and thus probably also in this country.
The new gaming range comprises six new product families with a total of over 30 products: HUVUDSPELARE, UTESPELARE, MATCHSPEL, GRUPPSPEL, UPPSPEL, LÅNESPELARE. Only the UPPSEL products, everything to do with the gaming table, were developed in cooperation with ROG. After all, the naming of the series obviously comes from Ikea. 😉
Overall, they have built up a very broad product portfolio. From gaming desks to desk chairs you also have numerous accessories such as a cup holder or a mouse pad at hand. Since the pricing is certainly different here than on the Chinese market, I refrain from listing all prices. However, as already mentioned, most products are already available in China and are listed on the website for the local market. I have linked the individual product categories to you in the text above.
The most expensive products are the electric desks for the equivalent of 485 or 510 euros, depending on the tabletop size, or just under 410 euros without a tabletop.
The gaming chairs are in the price range up to a maximum of 130 euros.
The current hit in the home office or with “influencers”, even outside the gaming scene, is likely to be a ring light with a smartphone holder for just under 30 euros.
As I said, the range of products is quite broad, as are the price ranges. If necessary, let yourself be “inspired” by the linked overviews. I’ll attach some visual impressions here as an excerpt, so that you know whether it’s even worth browsing:
