Not only generate energy: solar panels have found an unexpected application

In France, they figured out how to combine the production of solar energy and growing plants in one installation.

The French company Sunwind Energy, which specializes in development of individual solar power plants, by the end of the year plans to release the solar photovoltaic installation Delta Flore, which combines gardening and energy generation. About this writes pv magazine France.

It is reported that Delta Flore is a light and stable aluminum structure, in which a container for planting plants serves as ballast. The system is easy to assemble, recyclable and resistant to the influence of such natural factors as wind, snow and hail. Its length is 3.548 m, width — 0.869 m, and the height — 1,332 m. According to the publication, the installation uses double-sided technology with translucent tedlar to optimize energy efficiency and protect the beds. The system includes two Bisol Lumina photovoltaic panels with a capacity of 340 W, each of which consists of 84 cells. They are connected to three bypass diodes and show an efficiency of 17.4% with a transparency zone of 26.5%.

To make the most of Delta Flore, the manufacturer has included the possibility of combining the installation with other technologies, such as rain sensors for irrigation or LED lighting with low energy consumption.

Delta Flore is currently still under development. The release of the first batch is planned for the end of the year. The cost of one system will be €1190. The manufacturer also provides a 25-year warranty.
