Not just your phone: what devices can you charge from a power bank at home?

Power outages are no longer a serious problem if you have a power bank. Modern external batteries can charge not only phones, but also a whole range of other devices. In this article, we will look at how to choose the right power bank depending on your needs and which gadgets can be powered by it.

What can be charged from a power bank: the important role of capacity

The main parameter that you need to pay attention to when choosing a power bank is its capacity, measured in mAh (milliampere-hours). It is this indicator that determines how effective the device will be and what gadgets it will be able to charge.

1. Power banks up to 10,000 mAh

These are compact models that are suitable for basic needs:

• Smartphone – 2-5 full charges depending on battery capacity.

• Wireless headphones or smartwatch – dozens of charges.

• Tablet – full charge once.

It is possible to charge a laptop from such a power bank, but it is unlikely to fully “lift” its battery, because most laptops have batteries with a capacity greater than 10,000 mAh.

2. Power banks up to 20,000 mAh

These are universal models for powering several devices at the same time. They easily charge:

• Smartphones – several times.

• Tablets.

• Laptops.

3. Power banks from 30,000 mAh

These are more serious devices that can provide energy even to powerful equipment. They are enough for:

• Several charging cycles of laptops or tablets.

• The operation of devices such as LED lamps or electric blankets.

4. Models from 120,000 mAh and more

These are full-fledged charging stations that can work even with large household appliances, for example:

• Mini-fridges.

• Televisions.

• Microwaves.

Such stations are often used by car enthusiasts or as a backup power source at home.

How to connect devices to a power bank

The main condition for connection is the matching of the connectors. Power banks have two main types of connections:

1. USB connection

Suitable for charging gadgets that have USB connectors. This includes smartphones, headphones, tablets, electric sheets, and LED strips (if the kit includes a USB plug).

2. Connection via a “plug”

Modern charging stations, such as EcoFlow or Bluetti, have connectors for standard electrical “plugs”. This allows you to power more powerful devices, such as refrigerators, washing machines, TVs, mixers or even microwaves.

Such stations can be used as a separate power source or connect extension cords to them to power several devices at once.

Power bank – this is a universal assistant that will help you stay connected even during periods of power outages. When choosing a model, consider its capacity and your needs. For daily use, a small power bank will be enough, but for more serious tasks, it is better to consider charging stations.
