Norway and Denmark agreed on cooperation in the development of long-range drones

On May 28, on the sidelines of the meeting of the Council of the European Union in Brussels, the Ministers of Defense of Norway and Denmark, Bjorn Arild Gram and Troels Lund Poulsen, signed a memorandum of intent on cooperation in in the field of long-range drones.

This is reported by “European Truth” with reference to NTB.

As Gram explained to journalists, Norway and Denmark seek to strengthen the ability to monitor the water area in the north with the help of long-range drones radius of action. They will be managed from Andoya – one of the northernmost Norwegian islands.

“(Long-range drones. – Ed.) new opportunities for Norway and Norwegian defense. So we want to develop them in cooperation with allies, and Denmark is an important partner,” – added the head of the Norwegian Ministry of Defense.

He noted that Norway also plans to discuss with its allies the joint purchase of drones, but did not specify whether this would apply to Denmark.

Norway, as you know, has repeatedly noticed Russian spies and other suspicious activity on its territory, in particular in the northern regions, where important energy infrastructure is located.

Last week it became known that Finland, Norway, as well as the three Baltic states agreed on the creation of a “drone wall” for the protection of external borders with the help of unmanned aerial vehicles.

And the National Armed Forces of Latvia plan to invest 20 million euros in the development of drone technology, in particular, the creation of an “army of drones”.
