Non-dischargeable and repairable: an “eternal” battery for electric bicycles is presented

Non-dischargeable and repairable: Introducing the 'forever' e-bike battery

Infinite Battery simplifies e-bike battery maintenance and adds extra capacity that can save cyclists money.

Gouach Batteries is working on the Infinite Battery, a device that will help e-bike owners save money and benefit the environment. About it writes Notebookcheck.

At first glance, batteries for electric cars and bicycles with electric motors look like completely customized special systems. They usually consist of separate cells that are connected using special electronics. These individual cells can also be bought to replace old ones, but it's difficult to make a replacement yourself.

As part of a crowdfunding campaign, Gouach Batteries is collecting donations for Infinite — an easily user-serviceable e-bike battery ($249 per unit).

According to engineers, just a few damaged cells can cause the battery to fail 90% of the time, which can mean high costs and environmental problems environment.

The novelty is designed to bypass this problem by making individual battery elements easily replaceable: accessibility is ensured by screw connections. Individual elements only need to be inserted into their respective holders, and no soldering is required.

Infinite has an integrated sensor system that not only outputs voltages, currents and temperatures, but also acceleration and humidity. These values can be easily monitored using an application for which the ESP32 chip provides Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. The housing is also considered fire-resistant and IP67 certified, i.e. waterproof.

Compatibility is guaranteed with a wide range of electric motors and bikes from Shimano, Yamaha, Decathlon, Brose and Bosch, although the batteries, which are fully integrated into the frame, cannot be replaced. but they can be used as a range extender.

The Infinite Battery is available in 36 or 48 volt options, with a capacity of 460 or 450 Wh, and a maximum continuous power of 900 or 1200 W. Both options weigh 3.6 kg.
