Juan Carlos Oblitas will continue working with the Federation Peruvian Soccer(FPF) after the departure of Ricardo Gareca. After two Qualifiers as sports director, he will now be general director of football, the body confirmed this Tuesday through a statement.
“As part of the reform and institutional strengthening plan carried out by the FPF, you are kind enough to announce the creation of the new position of Director General of Football, who will have the responsibility of leading the development and sporting growth of all the national teams (men's, women's , futsal and beach soccer), as well as the Professional Soccer League”, announced the highest body in national football.
“ The FPF appoints Juan Carlos Oblitas as the new general director of football, who from this date will begin his new functions in coordination with the authorities of the institution with the sole objective of working together in favor of strengthening national football ”, added the FPF.

Only four days ago, Oblitas had publicly announced that he will not continue as FPF sporting director. “I'm sorry I didn't find reciprocity, I have to conclude this beautiful stage of my professional career”, he declared at a press conference.
“On June 13 of this year my contract with the FPF ended, however to date I have continued to exercise the function of sports director on the different issues that have arisen in the last few days, for the love and respect I have for the institution. Since my contractual situation ended, I have always had the intention and predisposition to continue in the position, to resume the project that began more than seven years ago ”, he indicated.
