The new NATO strategic concept confirmed the decision of the participating countries that Ukraine will become part of the Alliance in the future.

This is noted in the text of the concept.

“We will continue to develop our partnership with Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia and Ukraine to advance our common interests in Euro-Atlantic peace, stability and security. We reaffirm the decision taken at the 2008 Bucharest Summit and all subsequent decisions on Georgia and Ukraine”, – the document says.

It is also emphasized that NATO countries support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the above countries . The Alliance will strengthen their “resistance to malicious interference”.

At the same time, NATO approved its open door policy towards all European democracies at the level of a new strategic concept.

Note that At the Bucharest summit in 2008, NATO member countries decided that Ukraine and Georgia would become members of the Alliance. To do this, countries need to fulfill the MAP.

BAGNET recalls that earlier Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Alvarez said that NATO countries do not discuss the issue of Ukraine's membership in the Alliance.
