Astronaut Jenni Gibbons has for her part been named official replacement for Jeremy Hansen, who is due, in November 2024, to participate in the Artemis II mission , the first manned mission of the Orion spacecraft.

There are currently four active Canadian astronauts. In addition to Joshua Kutryk and Jenni Gibbons, who joined the Canadian Space Agency in 2017, Jeremy Hansen and David Saint-Jacques are also on active duty.

Mr. Saint-Jacques spent more than six months aboard the ISS in 2018 and 2019, while the other three have not yet flown into space.
