New Google feature calls businesses on your behalf to inquire about services and prices

Google is launching a new feature that uses AI to call local businesses on your behalf to ask about services and prices, writes TechCrunch. We've picked the main ones.

What happened

Google is launching a new feature Ask for Me — AI that independently calls local businesses and asks for information about prices and services.

This feature is available on computers and mobile phones for those who have joined the Search Labs experiments. The feature works like this: you search for, for example, a manicure or a car service, and Google uses artificial intelligence to call these places, ask if there are places and what the prices are, and send you an answer.

Last year, the company launched a feature called Talk to a Live Rep, which automatically calls the business, holds the line, and connects you when the operator is free. This makes the process much easier, as you no longer have to listen to music on hold for hours.

Why is this interesting

In addition, Google has completed the implementation of the Theft Detection Lock feature. It uses AI to detect when the device has been forcibly taken away and automatically locks the screen. This feature is available for phones with Android 10 and later versions.

Another interesting feature is Gemini Live. It allows you to upload a photo or video and get advice from AI. For example, you can take a photo of the refrigerator and find out what you can cook from the products. However, this feature is only available on newer phone models like the Pixel 9 and Galaxy S24.
