In accordance with the decision of a New York judge rendered on December 18, several court documents related to the case of Jeffrey Epstein, an American businessman accused of sex crimes who committed suicide in prison before to be tried, were made public on Wednesday.

These documents reportedly contain around 200 names, including those of plaintiffs, politicians and people from the world of cases.

The majority of names appearing in these documents are not the subject of charges, and have already been mentioned previously in legal proceedings and in the media.

The hundreds of pages of documents made public are part of a lawsuit filed against Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's former partner, by Virginia Roberts Giuffre in 2015. Ms. Giuffre is one of dozens of women who have sued the American businessman and accused him of sexually abusing them when they were minors.

The lawsuit against Maxwell was settled in 2017, but statements from possible victims were kept under seal. Approximately 2,000 pages were made public in 2019 and additional documents were released in 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Last December 18, Judge Loretta Preska requested that 250 new documents be made public in early January. She justified her decision by the fact that most of the information they contained was already known to the public.

Several victims have already given media interviews. However, the names of some victims and others named who were not complicit in Epstein's crimes were redacted in the newly released documents.

Jeffrey Epstein was arrested in 2019 and accused of sexually assaulting and raping young girls. The American financier, who had powerful friends among the world's financial and political elite, committed suicide in prison before his trial began.

For her part, Ghislaine Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in prison in 2022.

Maxwell and Epstein were in couple in the early 1990s before becoming professional collaborators.

The 61-year-old ex-British, French and American socialite was found guilty in December 2021 in New York for sex trafficking of minors on behalf of his spouse.

In a separate section of this international file, Prince Andrew, a friend of the Maxwell-Epstein couple, sealed an out-of-court settlement in February 2022 – for $13 million according to the Daily Telegraph – with Virginia Giuffre who accused him of having sexually assaulted her in 2001 when she was 17.
