Dresden – After the federal-state consultations to contain the corona pandemic, Saxony has passed a new protection ordinance. The new rules apply from February 15 to March 7, as Health Minister Petra Köpping (62, SPD) announced on Friday in Dresden after a cabinet meeting.
This means that the corona restrictions remain in place, but there have been some easing.
The development of the current infection numbers is positive. “But we must continue to be vigilant and careful,” said Köpping with a view to the increasing number of corona mutations. 67 cases are known throughout Saxony, 22 cases in the Vogtland district alone.
Mask compulsory in the car
In cars, it is mandatory to wear medical masks if more than one household is traveling. This is particularly true for professional carpools such as craftsmen, said Köpping. Contrary to previous planning, the driver must also wear a mask.
The minister sees no violation of the road traffic regulations, even if state police chief Horst Kretzschmar points out that one should not actually drive in a mask. And what happens if a driver with a mask is flashed? “Our speed cameras get along well with the eye area,” emphasized Kretzschmar. This can be used to determine the identity of the driver.
Schools and daycare centers
Primary schools and daycare centers can open in restricted regular operations from February 15. That means: groups and classes are strictly separated. If the seven-day incidence exceeds 100 on five consecutive days, daycare centers and schools have to close again. This mechanism takes effect from March 8th at the earliest. 151,000 primary school students will be attending schools in the Free State again from Monday.
Hairdressing and foot care shops are allowed to open from March 1st, but employees and customers must then wear at least medical masks. It is also planned that owners and employees must have themselves tested weekly. Many shops are already registering a rush and are making appointments.
Click & Collect
As is the order of the day in other federal states, Saxony will allow the “Click & Collect” order and pick-up service from Monday. Customers can then order by phone or via the Internet and pick up the goods without contact. Retailers are asked to avoid queues and to allocate time slots.
The 15-kilometer rule can be relaxed
In principle, the lockdown with closed museums, cinemas, restaurants and contact restrictions will be extended until March 7th. However, there are easing: If the seven-day incidence nationwide is below 100 for five consecutive days and this value is also reached in individual counties, cities and counties can decide to lift the night curfew and the 15-kilometer radius.
People are then allowed to go more than 15 kilometers from their place of residence for shopping, sports and exercise, but not for tourist excursions. Dresden and Chemnitz want to lift the two restrictions from next Monday. However, Köpping emphasized that the rules in the neighboring districts must also be observed. If the 15-kilometer rule still applies there, shopping and sports are taboo there.
Driving and music schools
From March 1st, driving schools may open subject to conditions if an exam is necessary for professional reasons. One-to-one tuition for exam preparation is allowed at the music schools. Teachers have to be tested weekly.
