Netanyahu: ceasefire talks with Hamas will resume next week

Negotiations on a ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas (an organization designated as terrorist by the United States – editor's note) will resume next week, after meetings with the head of the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad ; in Doha, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Friday, July 5. reports “Voice” of America.

The office noted that differences remain between the parties regarding the ceasefire agreement and the release of hostages.

Director of Israeli intelligence "Mossad" David Barnea held meetings with mediators in Qatar, and Israel said it would resume negotiations as Hamas updates its ceasefire proposal.

A Hamas spokesman said Friday that their proposed amendments to the U.S. ceasefire plan in Gaza received “approval” mediators, although they said “Israel's position is not clear.”

The White House said Friday that US President Joe Biden is likely to meet with Netanyahu when the Israeli prime minister comes to Washington this month .

The ceasefire talks come amid Palestinian officials' claims that seven Palestinians were killed in the West Bank city of Jenin after an Israeli raid that the military described as a “counter-terrorism operation.” Israeli soldiers “surrounded the building in which the terrorists had barricaded themselves.” Then, the military reported that as a result of the airstrike, “several armed terrorists were hit.”
