Almost half of Albertans (48%) oppose the creation of a provincial pension plan, according to a poll by the Angus Reid Institute, while 36% of respondents support the idea.

How much money the province could take away appears to be Albertans' main concern.

< p class="StyledBodyHtmlParagraph-sc-48221190-4 hnvfyV">Of those who responded to the online survey, 51% believe they would experience a net loss of their own retirement savings, 31% believe it would be beneficial, and 18% believe there will be no change, if the province left the Canada Pension Plan (CPP).

The vast majority of people consulted who voted for the provincial New Democratic Party (NDP) are opposed to the creation of a pension plan provincial, while very few United Conservative Party (UCP) voters oppose it.

In the rest of Canada, more than half of respondents from British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario and the Atlantic provinces are opposed to Alberta leaving the CPP.

In Saskatchewan, 45% of respondents are opposed to it, and in Quebec, this figure is #x27;student at 21%.

With the exception of Saskatchewan, according to the Angus Reid Institute survey, all provinces are mostly against their government leaving the CPP and creating its own pension plan.

The poll was conducted by the Angus Institute Reid from November 24 to December 1 with a sample of 3,749 adults surveyed online. A probability poll of a similar sample size would have a margin of error of +/- 1.5 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
