Natural gas consumption in China in 2020 will increase by 13 billion cubic meters – up to 320 billion cubic meters, according to a report compiled by the State Energy Administration of the People's Republic of China in cooperation with two other think tanks.
At the same time, the country continues to intensify efforts to explore and develop deposits of this raw material, the report says. Last year, investments in the exploration and development of oil and gas resources rose by 25.7% to 335.5 billion yuan ($ 49.6 billion).
Natural gas production in China increased by 11.5% in 2019. This is a record high rate of recovery, according to an industry report. Gas imports increased by 6.9% to 135.2 billion cubic meters. The volume of actual gas consumption in the country reached 306.7 billion cubic meters, which is 9.4% more than in 2018.
According to the action plan to combat air pollution, in 2020 China will increase the share of natural gas in the total consumption of primary energy resources to 10%, Xinhua reported.
