NATO increases support for Ukraine

NATO Defense Ministers approved "operational plan to expand support for Ukraine" ;, which provides for a greater role for the Alliance in the supply of weapons and training to the Ukrainian military, said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

As reported by the EP, the plan provides that in the future the Alliance will take over the international coordination of weapons supplies and training for the Armed Forces forces of Ukraine.

As is known, the approval of the "operational plan" Hungary blocked for a long time, since NATO makes all decisions by consensus. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban referred to the fact that the Alliance initiative could lead to “direct confrontation” with Russia.

But before the ministerial meeting in Brussels, Orban met with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and agreed to lift the veto in exchange for a promise that Hungary would not participate in training Ukrainians or finance arms supplies.
