NATO will increase the size of the military contingent on the eastern borders of the alliance. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg at a press conference ahead of the Alliance summit in Madrid, Reuters reports.

"During the summit, we will strengthen our forward defense lines and we will reinforce the combat groups on the eastern borders to the required level. We will transform the NATO Rapid Reaction Force and increase its strength to more than 100,000 troops. man", — said the secretary general.

According to him, the number of military reserves and the volume of stocks of pre-allocated military equipment in the field will also be increased. Stoltenberg specified that there will be more capabilities in the field of air defense (air defense), and command and control capabilities will also be strengthened.

BAGNET recalls, on the eve of Stoltenberg announced that  ;States — Alliance members should agree on a full package of assistance to Ukraine at the upcoming Madrid summit, as well as a new strategic concept of the Alliance.

According to the Spanish newspaper El Pais, the new NATO strategic concept will for the first time include a clause on  ;protection of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the countries that are members of the Alliance, as as the main mission of the organization.

According to available information, an attack on any member of the Alliance is considered an attack on all allies. However, this commitment is now limited to the so-called Euro-Atlantic space, excluding the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla.
