On Tuesday, September 21, Christians celebrate the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Blessed Virgin Mary. Orthodox people revere this day very much, as it is one of the twelve (twelve most important after Easter) holidays.

< p>According to Podrobnosti, on this day, believers go to the church, where a solemn service is held. Their prayers, which are considered especially strong on this day, are addressed to the Virgin. The Virgin Mary is asked for blessing and protection.

Besides, it's a women's holiday. Childless women prepare a festive dinner and invite the homeless to pray for their offspring.

On this day, it is customary to go to church and pray to the Mother of Jesus Christ a hundred about patronage. Also on this day, they traditionally guessed, predicted the weather in winter and observed fasting.

This holiday opens the new church year. Our ancestors dedicated the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos to harvesting and family gathering.  Traditionally, field work is being completed by now.

Usually, the celebration lasted several days, the treat was prepared from the products of the new harvest. Meat dishes were not served on the table.

Women were forbidden to take in the hands of sharp objects, sew, embroider, cut.
