(Quebec) The National Director of Public Health, Dr Horacio Arruda, gives the green light to the resumption of the work of the National Assembly as planned on February 2 with the presence of 37 of the 125 deputies at the Blue Room.
This is the same quorum that existed when the work was completed in December.
The Dr Arruda sent the parties his recommendations for the parliamentary session. The government wanted work, such as question period, to be done virtually or for the session to be postponed for a week, to February 9, to coincide with the end of the period of strict confinement throughout Quebec (this week would have been resumed later in the session).
The opposition parties wanted MPs to be able to set foot in parliament from February 2 as planned, while respecting health instructions.
In his letter, the Dr Arruda also specifies that health measures will be strengthened in parliament.
