Colorado Avalanche star forward Nathan MacKinnon was forced to quit his lineup against the Minnesota Wild on Sunday night at the Xcel Energy Center.
The 25-year-old played the first two periods but was not back on the bench after the second intermission. The Avalanche said his skater suffered from a lower body injury.
Before leaving, MacKinnon amassed assists on the successes of teammates Joonas Donskoi and Cale Makar.
The game ended in a 4-3 overtime win for the Wild. It was Jonas Brodin who played the heroes in overtime. Victor Rask also did well, he who hit the target twice in this duel.
The two teams will meet on Tuesday for the third meeting in a series of four. The Avalanche won the first game on Saturday.
