The Department of Government Efficiency (Doge), led by Elon Musk, claims it's already saving the US government a billion dollars a day and will increase that figure to $3 billion a day, the department said in a statement on X.
«DOGE saves the federal government about $1 billion per day, mainly by stopping hiring people for unnecessary positions, eliminating DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion programs) and stopping unreasonable payments to foreign organizations – all of which are in line with the president's executive orders», – the department noted.
«A great start, but we need to increase this figure to more than $3 billion per day», – the report says.
Recall that Elon Musk was appointed by US President Donald Trump to head an agency called Doge – Department of Government Efficiency. As previously reported by NBC News, despite its name, DOGE will not be a full-fledged ministry within the federal government – the creation of such an agency requires approval from the US Congress. Trump said that Doge will “provide outside advice and guidance.”
By the way, despite Musk’s desire to have an office near the Oval Office, Doge’s leadership will be based in the Eisenhower Executive Office, although The New York Times previously reported that Musk would get an office next to Trump.
As reported, Elon Musk has become a diplomatic “headache” for Europe. European leaders are wary of criticizing the entrepreneur, fearing it will damage relations with US President-elect Donald Trump.
