The Sony Music company will still receive the music catalog of the rock band Queen. He will be bought out as part of a deal valued at $1.27 billion.
The company will receive the rights to record and publish Queen's songs, as well as royalties from previous deals with Disney Music Group and Universal Music Group. This is reported by Variety.
As noted in the publication, another bidder for the acquisition of a collection of some of the most valuable musical works of the era settled on a bid of more than 710 million pounds.
< p>The purchase will include the rights to legendary and highly profitable songs, including “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Another One Bites the Dust,” “Somebody to Love,” as well as “We Will Rock You” and “We Are the Champions.”
Sony will also transfer the group's rights to record music, except for the creation of works in the United States and Canada, for which the rights were granted by Disney in the 2000s. In addition, the purchase provides that the company will be able to place music on digital platforms after 2026-2027.

The deal leaves the band with rights to tour earnings.
Earlier this year Sony also acquired 50% of Michael Jackson's music records from the late singer's estate – for at least $600 million. Bob Dylan also sold his records to Sony in 2022.
