For the sixth time we are giving away the MTB-News User Awards and again you voted diligently: With 15,506 votes, there was more voting than ever before, and in total the MTB-News.de readers had around three weeks to vote to participate in our User Awards 2021. In a total of 25 categories, we asked people to vote on the most exciting products and companies of the year.
As the only element that connects the two-wheeler with the ground, the tire on the mountain bike is of particular importance. The requirements are diverse: a good tire should maximize traction, at the same time offer low rolling resistance and also combine low weight with maximum puncture resistance. We wanted to know from you: Which tire has earned the MTB News User Award in the Tire of the Year category?
To make participating in the survey worthwhile, there were prizes totaling around € 22,000 from YT, Zipp, Nicolai, Magura, OneUp, SRAM, iXS, Alutech, BikeYoke, DT Swiss, e * thirteen, Lupine, Praep, Radon , Maxxis, POC, Lezyne, Evoc, G-Form, Pirelli, Fabric, Ergon, AMS, Deuter, Continental and Protaper to win. We would like to thank all participants for the numerous votes and the participating companies for the products and bikes for the raffle – and present the winners in the tire category!

Compared to the classics Minion and High Roller, the Maxxis Assegai is still a relatively new model from the tire specialists – but the signature tire from South African old master Greg Minnaar is well on the way to becoming firmly established among the most popular tires.
The Maxxis Assegai impresses with outstanding traction, especially on soft ground, and shines in enduro and downhill use.
3rd place: Maxxis Minion DHR 2
8.5% of the vote

Third place in the Tire of the Year category also went to Maxxis. If you look at the naming of the Minion DHR 2, then you should actually assume a specialist for the rear wheel. However, the tire also looks good on the front wheel, combining traction and braking grip with good rolling resistance. Congratulations to Maxxis on 3rd place!
