The actress Lucía Guilmáin, a figure of Televisa , as well as the theater and cinema in Mexico, died this afternoon at the age of 83.
It was the producer Jorge Ortiz de Pinedo who made the news known through his Twitter account.
“I regret to report that today, at 2:30 in the afternoon, while in the company of her son Raúl, her daughter-in-law and her grandchildren, Lucía Guilmáin (Lucía Gutiérrez Puerta) ceased to exist. I wish your family a speedy resignation. My deepest condolences. Rest in Peace Lucía, ”he wrote.
Óscar Ortiz de Pinedo also spoke about the death. “Today, my aunt, the first actress Lucía Guilmáin, left the earthly plane. My condolences to my cousin @gigioorva to his grandchildren, Raúl and Caro. His daughter-in-law, Caro and his brothers, Juan, Mona and my mother … may the great Lucía Guilmáin rest in peace, ”he noted about the lead actress, whose cause of death has not yet been revealed.
Daughter of Ofelia Guilmáin, Lucía was the sister of actor Juan Ferrara and Esther Guilmáin. Together with the sports commentator Raúl Orvañanos, she remained united in marriage and had a son, who survives him.
Born on January 5, 1938, Lucía worked in the acting arts, participating in film, theater and television, and among those remembered films in which he participated are Río Hondo and Tajimara , from 1965; Throw your sorrows to the wind , in 1966; Harbinger , in 1975; Length of war , in 1976, and More black than the night , in 2014.
Regarding her career on the small screen, the actress appeared in soap operas such as Un solo corazón , from 1983; Marisol , from 1996, El privilegio de amar , from 1998 and The hotel of secrets , in 2016.
She also stood out in her role as a villain of children's soap operas, as she participated in the projects Amigos x siempre , Aventuras en el tiempo and Misión SOS Aventura y amor , melodramas de Televisa where she shared credits with Belinda, Christopher Uckerman and Alejandro Speitzer.
Another notable role for which the actress recently stood out on the small screen was that of "Brígida", an evil housekeeper who was in charge of torturing the character of Zuria Vega in the 2012 soap opera A refuge for love.
In her career on stage, she stood out with her interpretation of the classic montage La casa de Bernarda Alba at the Venustiano Carranza theater in Mexico City , a work with which she received an ATP award for Best Actress only in 2020.
At the moment already some personalities from the entertainment industry in Mexico have reacted, such is the case of Victoria Ruffo, who wrote: “I feel great sadness. May my dear Lucía Guilmáin rest in peace ”, for her part, the actress Sugey Abrego stated that“ while some were getting vaccinated today, others were losing the battle without knowing it. What a pain ”, an assertion that would suggest that the first actress died due to complications derived from a presumed coronavirus infection.
