Joe Biden will make specific statements at the NATO summit about increase in US forces in Europe.
National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan made the announcement, according to CNN, and explained that the boost would include two more US destroyers at the Rota Naval Base in Spain, resulting in the total number of US destroyers based there will reach six.
Biden planned to discuss the decision with Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez during a meeting on Tuesday.
“This will help increase the United States maritime presence States and NATO”, — Sullivan said aboard Air Force One as Biden flew to Madrid.
He said the new destroyers would be the first of several specific announcements about the US military during the NATO summit.
” “Tomorrow, the United States will make specific announcements about additional commitments to deploy forces on land, at sea and in the air in the long term,” Sullivan said.
“By the end of the summit, you will see a stronger, more effective, combat-ready, combat-ready and more resolute grouping of forces to take into account the more acute and aggravated Russian threat”, — he added.
