The number of people who download mobile games has been constantly growing and according to Sensor Tower,company dedicated to the study of the digital market, in 2021 alone a total of 8,600 million downloads of applications of this type were generated. In addition, this figure represents a growth of 15% compared to the previous year and generated more than 90,000 million dollars worldwide.
However, this market would be facing its first drop in years after estimates from the Sportlens websiteprojected a loss of players worldwide by the end of 2022 due to “inflation and the end of the quarantines due to the covid-19″ pandemic, which would have generated a decrease of 175 million players across multiple platforms, of which 80 million are in the mobile gaming industry alone.
According to the website of Statista, dedicated to the collection and management of data, despite the fact that there was a growth of 55% of playersfrom 2017 to the present, this year the figure will go from 1,820 million users to 1,740 million .
In the case of China, one of the markets most affected by the loss of players, 53.3 million users have lost due to, among other factors, limitations on how long you can play or tighter controls on the content of video games.

Among the markets that lost the most in this reduction in the number of players, are the United States(under 5.7 million players), Japan (under 1.8 million players) and Germany (under 2 million players).
Developers' revenues were not affected
A substantial reduction in the public playing video games for mobile devices would not only bring with it fewer downloads for the creators of the titles, but eventually their profit marginsthey would be affected. However, Statista 's projections for the following years, from 2022 to 2025, keep developers' revenues on the rise.
In 2020, 2021 and 2022 alone, a total of 115.6 billion dollars, 139.7 billion dollars and 152.5 billion dollars respectively were produced. However, Statista's projection indicates that by the year 2025 there will be a growth of more than 201,700 million dollarswithout any type of decrease in the projections of the years to come.
On the other hand, from a general point of view, if we talk about video games being installed in the devices, there is currently an explosion in which almost any title can be found in its digital format and, therefore, physical formats are less and less required by buyers.

This virtual trend on the number of downloads becomes even more relevant when the physical sales of video games are reviewed and according to Mat Piscatella, specialist in video games, you can see a decrease in the number of titles that decide to have physical releases. According to him, until the end of 2021, 228 titles were physically sold and since 2018 the figure has been declining.
For now, even with the reduction in the set of players, the mobile gaming market continues to grow economically and therefore presents the opportunity to win back users in the future.< /p>
