Last week, MLS commissioner Don Garber revealed that his league was awaiting a response from the players’ union (MLSPA) on a proposal it had made to him.

“On January 5, MLS presented the MLSPA with a proposal committing to pay players 100% of their salaries this year, in exchange for a two-year extension of the MLS collective agreement. On January 23, the MLSPA submitted a response to the league’s proposal. Even if no agreement has been reached, MLS is committed to meeting the MLSPA as many times as necessary over the next few days to finalize an agreement, ”Garber said in its letter.

In addition, clubs will be able to start their training camp from February 22, six weeks before the start of the 2021 campaign.

Players will need to quarantine and train individually when they join their squad.

The MLS has not disclosed its schedule, but assures that it will do so in the coming weeks.

What about the Canadian teams?

The Garber circuit remained fairly evasive on the situation of Canadian formations, while the border between the United States and Canada are still closed.
