Yadier Molina signed a nine million-year contract with the St. Louis Cardinals, with whom he has played for 18 years.
The 38-year-old catcher has nine Golden Gloves to his credit.
Last season he hit for .262 with four long balls and 16 RBIs.
For him, it was the last campaign of a pact of 60 million for three years.
Several clubs showed interest in him, but none had the sentimental appeal of the Cardinals, the organization that drafted him in 2000, in the fourth round.
“I heard the call from the city, the organization, the teammates, the instructors,” said Molina. I also wanted to come back. Self-reliance is a process that can stretch. But in my head, St. Louis was the first choice. ”
The Puerto Rican is third of the Cards for the matches played, behind Stan Musial (3026) and Lou Brock (2289).
