Bolmaro, chased by Hezonja, at Panatinaikos-Barça.GEORGIA PANAGOPOULOU / EFE
Barça, with a plethora of Mirotic in the lead, dispelled the Mario Hezonja effect at the OAK in Athens. The Croatian player, after five seasons in the NBA, was received like a star in Panathiniakos. The Greek team, needing to take flight in the Euroleague and diminished by the absences of their top scorers, Nedovic and Papapetrou, clung to Hezonja. And the gunner, whose rights still belong to Barça, took up the challenge and scored 21 points. But he ran into Mirotic, very determined to make a difference. He made five of the nine triples he shot and finished with 25 points and five rebounds. Barça acted in line with their rank, played the leading role in the Euroleague, and dominated from start to finish.
Mirotic was launched. He added 13 points in the first seven minutes, with some basket after getting rid of Hezonja's occasional marking. The Hispanic Montenegrin laid the foundations for the game to run. Barça handled the strings, more accurate, more engaged. Almost the entire match kept between eight and 12 points ahead (46-58). Higgins, once again excellent and destabilizing, Bolmaro and Davies, seconded Mirotic
Panathinaikos never wavered in their effort, forced many losses from Barça (19) and reduced their disadvantage to six points at some point (64-70) , but Barça always put one more gear in their game when the occasion required it. Claver, absent since October due to injury, reappeared in the Euruoliga, and Calathes sealed with victory his return to what was his court during the five seasons prior to his arrival at Barça last summer.
