The information was announced by the official representative of the department Olga Chemodanova. She pointed out that the police officers were forced to use tear gas to prevent “illegal actions”. In addition, the Ministry of Internal Affairs added that arrests took place in Brest against the background of violations by citizens of the law concerning the organization of mass events. Earlier, there were also statements about the arrests of protesters in Minsk.

In the afternoon it became known that in the capital of Belarus convoys of special equipment were being drawn to the Palace of Independence. A truck with representatives of the internal troops also arrived to ensure security. The protests in the republic continue after August 9, when the presidential elections were held.
