First Deputy Minister of Healthcare of Russia Igor Kagramanyan said that 10% of premature deaths of the working-age population occur due to the negative impact of alcohol and tobacco. These are world data, which are confirmed by statistics for the country.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 30% of illegal actions committed in the evening are associated with the abuse of alcoholic beverages. The mortality rate of Russians of working age is growing every year, said the country's chief narcologist Yevgeny Brun. So, in the first quarter of last year, 36,584 people died, and during the same period in 2020 – 37,346 people.

The Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation could not reduce this indicator in 2019: according to the plan, it was 437 cases per 100,000 population, but in fact – 482.8 cases.

Earlier, the RF Ministry of Finance named the reasons for increasing the excise tax on tobacco, and not on alcohol.
