The Minister of the Interior, Dimitri Senmache, showed uncomfortable during an interview granted this Monday to RPP and asked to “support” his portfolio and the police in the fight against citizen insecurity.
“We are working with generals who have already been promoted and the investigations will tell if the promotions [in the police] were legal or not. We are with 60 generals with their functions, we have seen who can best serve in different positions, that is what we have done, there are some who are questioned, for example there is one who is being investigated in the Tumbes region and they say that this region it is very important when [precisely] it is there so as not to give it a more important region, but they say that it is important because it is a border”, he asserted.
Minister Senmache questions journalists
“[Then the Tumbes region is not important?] No, no, no, what is the reason? Do you want to find a headline? Gentlemen, do you want to face citizen insecurity? yes or no? For that they have to support the Interior sector, they have to support the National Police”, he told RPP journalists.
Faced with this situation, both journalists rejected the minister's attitude, specifying that they do not do “public relations” of the aforementioned government sector.
At another point, Senmache said that all Those requisitioned have been intensely sought by the police and there have been fugitives for many years, so it cannot be said that protection is being given to people like Bruno Pacheco or Juan Silva.
“It is impossible to take action to protect these people, from the moment they have entered all the effort is being made, including their location and capture, there are people who have been wanted for 10 years, there are people who have been wanted since the 90s″, he said.
“They are being searched by different teams, if we knew the whereabouts, that would be a cover up, but we are seriously looking for these people sonas ”, he added.
