The Benavides election took place during the extraordinary session of the Board of Supreme Prosecutors held this morning, only three days after said body of magistrates met for the first again after the incorporation of Benavides Vargas and Juan Villena Campana.

Benavides Vargas must continue with the investigation against President Pedro Castillo for the alleged crime of criminal organization. For this case, the head of state declared last Friday.

It should be noted that the Board of Supreme Prosecutors is the government body with the highest hierarchy of the Public Ministry and is made up of the supreme prosecutors who direct the Supreme Prosecutor's Offices –in Criminal Matters, Civil Matters, Contentious Administrative Matters and Internal Control Matters– which meet under the presidency of the National Prosecutor.
