Minimum wage will increase to $15.20 per hour on April 1, 2024 in Nova Scotia.

In a press release on Wednesday, the province states that this increase is in accordance with a new formula approved by the provincial government. This formula stipulates that the rate must be adjusted according to the Consumer Price Index increased according to the minimum wage set the previous year.

This year, that represents a 4.7% increase over the April 2023 minimum wage.

This year has been very difficult for many Nova Scotians – business owners and workers alike, said Minister Jill Balser.

The minimum wage had already increased to $15 per hour on October 1, 2023.
