KYIV (Reuters) – Twenty-two people died in the crash of a Ukrainian military transport plane carrying cadets in northeastern Ukraine on Friday evening, the state emergency services and police said.
The message says that there were 28 people in the An-26 aircraft of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which fell during the landing approach to the military airport in the Kharkiv region.
“The bodies of 22 victims were found, two people were injured, the search for four people continues,” the State Emergency Service said in a statement.
According to the office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, this was a training flight for cadets of the Kharkiv National University of the Air Force.
