Michael Saylor was charged with $25 million in tax evasion

The District of Columbia (USA) filed a lawsuit against MicroStrategy and its executive chairman, Michael Saylor. Prosecutors accuse them of tax evasion fraud.

< p>The lawsuit was filed under the False Claims Act. According to Racine, the latter “encourages whistleblowers to report residents who evade taxes.”

Saylor told Bloomberg that he disagrees with the allegations:

“I respectfully disagree with the position of the District of Columbia and hope for a fair settlement in court.”

MicroStrategy called the claims of the prosecutor's office “false”. A spokesman for the company said that it intends to “aggressively” defend its interests.

Recall that in August 2022, Saylor left the position of CEO of MicroStrategy to focus “on innovation and long-term corporate strategy”, which implies further acquisition and holding bitcoin.
