Announcement Minister of Public Security Marco Mendicino has himself received death threats online in recent weeks in response to a legislative initiative to limit the possession of firearms.

“The situation is very alarming,” he said, talking about “very negative and toxic rhetoric that we see on the Internet that can lead to violence” and has already led to dangerous clashes.

“We need a space where we can actively debate without becoming witnesses such anger and almost physical confrontation, as well as incitement to violence and death threats,” he said.
