Media: Germany will train part of its pilots on the F-35 in Greece

Discussions continue between Athens and Berlin regarding the training of future German F-35 pilots at the base of the 120th Aviation Training Wing in Kalamata .

As European Truth writes, the Greek newspaper Kathimerini learned about it.

The German Air Force plans to initially send ten pilots, who are expected to undergo a full two-year training program in 120 wing.

A few weeks ago, officers of the German Air Force visited the air base in Kalamata to inspect the facilities and equipment. Greece will earn approximately $2.5 million for each trained German pilot.

Germany is the first country to express interest in training its pilots at the international training base in Kalamata, which is operated by Israeli defense contractor Elbit.< /p>

In 2021, Elbit signed a $1.65 billion contract with the Greek government to upgrade facilities and equipment and operate the facility for 22 years.

In 2022, Germany decided to order 35 F-35 fighter jets along with missiles and other weapons worth about 10 billion euros.

This year it became known that Germany is considering the purchase of eight additional F-35 fighter jets.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also announced the purchase of 20 more Eurofighter fighters as part of the program to strengthen the country's armed forces.
