Thunderbolts*will be one of the next Marvel movies to hit the big screen. Two months after Captain America 4, with which it is linked, Jake Schreier's film announced for April 30, 2025 will finally offer Marvel fans their team of super-villains. An obvious response to DC Comics which released its very good The Suicide Squad by James Gunn in 2022.

Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh; Dune 2, Midsommar, Oppenheimer), the Red Guardian (David Harbour; Stranger Things mainly), James “Bucky” Barnes, Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen) and US Agent (Wyatt Russell) were introduced to the general public in the first trailer just released, with the famous sound “Where Is My Mind?” by the Pixies in the background.

The poster of Thunderbolts*generated by AI?

The promotional campaign officially launched, Marvel has unveiled the official poster of Thunderbolts*, on which the fine team poses, while bickering. If the poster stands out for its originality, compared to those of the other productions of La Maison des Idées, several Internet users suspect the visual of having been generated by artificial intelligence.

Indeed, some point out that a sixth finger seems to have grown from the hand of Lewis Pullman, who will play Robert Reynolds, alias Sentry.

Yet by analyzing the photo carefully, by drawing the fingers while paying attention to the phalanges, we see that there are indeed five fingers. The angle can seem misleading. The position of the hand and the fact that the little finger is partially hidden, give this impression.

Still, the suspicions of many users are revealing of the place that generative AI takes in the creative process. More and more fake images generated by AI are flooding the web. A phenomenon that is growing and which is all the more disturbing when the creative industries are pinned for using such creations. This is the case of Netflix, which was suspected this year of having used images generated or manipulated by artificial intelligence in the documentary Jennifer's Truth, which looks back at a family shooting that shook Canada in 2010.
