The Cuban Jorge Martínez, allowed one hit in six innings, in a 5-3 win for the Giants against the Stars on Sunday afternoon in the 69th season of the Dominican League dedicated to the memory of Don Tomás Troncoso by&nbsp ; the Banreservas Cup.

Martínez (G 1-1), 37, born in Havana, walked one walk and struck out four as the Giants snapped a four-game losing streak. and get his tenth win on the circuit, to be the Cuban with the most wins behind Raúl Valdes (50-47). tied for the day with his compatriots Vladimir Núñez and Israel Sánchez with nine. Martínez is in his fifth year, after playing for Licey and Toros.

Carlos Peguero connected. his second home run of the season in the third inning, off the first pitch from Phillip Valdez, driving in Henry Urrutia and Kelvin Gutiérrez. tied with Ricardo Joseph with 37 on Lidom's home run list and is close to two behind Angel Peña with  39 and Victor Diaz with 40.

He is the second best home run hitter for the French Giants, current national champions, with 34, behind Juan Francisco with 43, leaving Nelson Cruz in third place with 33.

In the seventh, Edwin Espinal connected. rolled  for Eury Pérez to score in the race and Kelvin Gutierrez drove in a score. Erick Mejia hit Erick Mejia with a single for the fifth round.

In the bottom of the seventh the Estrellas scored three, the first by Huáscar Brazoban's deflected pitch for Erick Mejia to score and the other two in the legs of Eury Pérez and the Venezuelan Edward Olivares product of the  hit by Rodolfo Durán, with two outs.

Fernando Rodney (S,2) in the ninth inning, allowed. two hits with two strikeouts.

Phillip Valdez (P, 0-2) in 3 2/3 innings, they gave him five hits, with three earned runs, two walks and the home run he hit. Carlos Peguero.

For the Stars; Eric Mejia 4-1, scored; Edward Olivares 4-3, double (2),  annotated; Junior Lake 3-1, scored and Rodolfo Durán 4-1, two RBIs.

The Giants, defending champions, are free this Monday, to start the week receiving the Chosen One and the Estrellas, Tuesday and Wednesday in San Francisco de Macorís.

Aguilas Cibaeñas (13-6) are behind by a half game of  Tigres del Licey  (12-4), followed by Gigantes del Cibao (9-9), Estrellas Orientales (8-10), Leones del Esgido (6-11) and Toros del Este (5-13).
