Revealed to the general public during the student strike of 2012, the former president of the Federation of University Students of Quebec (FEUQ) Martine Desjardins was appointed Thursday Director General of the Professional Federation of Journalists of Quebec (FPJQ).
Mme Desjardins, 39, will take office gradually as of 1er February, we said in a press release.
For the past five years, she has been Executive Director of the Mouvement national des Québécoises et Québécois (MNQ).
She was also a candidate for the Parti Québécois in 2014 in Groulx, an election she lost. She also wrote columns in The Journal of Montreal.
“It is an honor to come and work at the FPJQ with a dynamic board of directors and a renewed team. The challenges are great and I am confident that we will be able to meet and exceed the expectations and objectives set by the members. We look forward to discussing your priorities with you, ”said Mr.me Gardens.
“Her sense of commitment, she will henceforth put at the service of press freedom and journalism. Journalists will be able to count on her, ”said Claude Robillard, interim director general of the FPJQ.
For a long time Director General of the FPJQ, Mr. Robillard had returned to service after the resignation, last September, of Director General Catherine Lafrance, in post for three years. A report by the Institute on the governance of public and private organizations (IGOPP) notably pointed to the governance of the FPJQ.
