Alva Prieto also asserted that Congress has never had high approval and that the population's weariness with this State power is due to the fact that the Executive has taken it upon itself to hit it like a “piñata”.

“Since there is this fed up with the Executive Power, and we know everything that is happening around the president, there is also a fed up of the population in by the political class”, he said.

“Furthermore, Congress is always the piñata, they always beat it up and this Executive has been very well in charge of doing that job by going to all the regions , to all the decentralized sessions that it has had, where the only objective has been to beat and beat Congress and say that it is useless, that it must be closed -they themselves say so-, that we do not work for the population, that we are obstructionists and that it's totally false”, he added.

The former head of Parliament also referred to her disputed term about “Indians and whites”, and reiterated that it is not discriminatory. He also accused the government of seeking to generate division by talking about regions and Lima.

“This issue of the Indians and the whites is not discriminator or anything like they wanted to put it. It is an issue that what I said is that the Executive gave that message of divisionism, which is always with that message of class struggle, of provinces, of regions, of Lima, the difference that the president is the rural teacher of the regions and the who are in Lima don't work and don't think about others”, he said.

“That is the speech of they. Here we all know that we are a mestizaje race and whoever does not have an Inga, has a Mandingo, like myself”, sentenced María del Carmen Alva.
