On November 8 through a video, the Colombian tennis player María Camila Osorio Serrano announced the closing of her 2022 season and after a cycle full of ups and downs, she closed the year with one main word on her mind, “learning”. Although the racket from Cucuta failed to achieve any title within the WTA circuit, she managed to reach the best position in the ranking in her entire career, so for next year the hunger for success will not be minor.
Osorio, who this season had to overcome different health barriers, such as a COVID-19 contagion right at the beginning of this season, put her name in the best positions in global tennis and established herself as a strong opponent to fight the best in the world.
In conversation with Caracol Sports, the tennis player gave her personal balance of what 2022 was like for her and also talked about what what are you waiting for next year. Regarding this last aspect, one of Osorio's objectives for the following season is to improve his ranking milestone in the circuit and hopes to break into the top 20:
“My goal by 2023 is to reach the 'Top-20' of the WTA ranking. The idea is to work very hard and focus on improving many things to achieve it. I am aware that this requires a lot of effort and sacrifice, but I have realized that tennis is a sport to believe and trust in oneself. I will seek to play the four Grand Slams again and I will also fight to win titles”
Precisely at the Australian Open, Roland Garros , Wimbledon and US Open, the Colombian will seek to achieve her best participations so far in her career, even reaching the last phases of these competitions, the athletes collect many points that help them boost themselves in the rankings.

Regarding what this season was like, María Camila gave a positive balance, especially due to the difficulties physical and mental that he had to endure in different sections of his competitive cycle. He stated that the home tournament, the Copa Colsanitas could not fully enjoy it due to the pressure to show the best of it, however this was one of the tournaments where it did best this year:
“It was a very nice experience because I was returning to Bogotá to defend the title and I felt that I was playing well, but I feel that I did not fully enjoy it because I was very focused on trying to show my best tennis. I remember that in my debut the The stands were full and I could hear all the people supporting me”
At the WTA 250 in Bogotá, the woman from Cucuteña managed to reach the semifinals, being defeated by the Brazilian Laura Pigossi with partials of 5-7 and 6-7.
Finally, he also referred to his performance at the Monterrey Open held last March , the only tournament in which he could reach the final. Regarding this, the Colombian tennis player stated that she never expected to go this far and that regardless of having lost the title chance there is always a feeling of gratitude:
“I really did not expect to play the end because he had just suffered an abdominal injury. In the final, she had a point to win the match and I think that's when I started to think a lot. It hurt me to lose that match because the level of play was very intense, but at the same time I felt grateful to have reached that stage of the tournament”
