Sheldon Keefe’s squad were back in action Monday night as they tried to sweep the series against the Vancouver Canucks. The Maple Leafs had won the first 2 matches quite convincingly by marks of 7-3 and 5-1.
The team once again had to deal with one less player. Following injuries to Joe Thornton, Jack Campbell and Nick Robertson, the Leafs have added Wayne Simmonds name to this list. The latter broke his wrist in the third period on Saturday. Heavy loss for the Leafs, both on the ice (5 goals in 12 games) and in the locker room.
As in previous games, the Maple Leafs were the first to enter the scoreboard. Morgan Rielly took advantage of a free puck in front of goaltender Braden Holtby to score his second goal of the season. 1-0 Toronto
