Compulsory military registration of women may be postponed

Compulsory military registration of women may be postponed in Ukraine. This was stated by Deputy Defense Minister Anna Malyar in an interview with Masha Efrosinina.

According to her, the Ministry of Defense has already developed and submitted to the Verkhovna Rada its proposals for amendments to the Law of Ukraine On military duty and military service, in which refers to the voluntary nature of women's military registration.

The military registration of women is established by law. Therefore, the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff cannot change it on their own. The corresponding changes must be adopted by the Verkhovna Rada.

"We have a plan B, if this is not accepted, then we will have to postpone these norms for another year, just like last year. This means that the listing of those on the list will remain mandatory. But just for another year there will be a conditional moratorium", – she noted.

Malyar recalled that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that the state does not need to forcibly put all women on military records.

Recall that in Ukraine from October 1, 2022 for military registration of all women whose professions are in the list of military specialties. The Armed Forces of Ukraine now need only specialists of certain professions.
